Melanculia is an indie / alternative solo project by Nino Sable, born in the late 1990s from a childhood split between Portugal's sunlit northern coast and Germany's industrial Ruhr Area. The move from sun, waves and bodyboarding in Póvoa de Varzim to the grey chill of Dorsten left a deep mark – Melanculia became the soundtrack for that loss, offering melancholic comfort to anyone who's ever felt uprooted.

The newer songs blend dark, introspective indie rock with alternative edges: clear, expressive vocals over raw acoustic and electric guitars, driving basslines and subtle percussion. Themes circle loss, longing, human fragility ("I just wanna be a good guy"), cosmic escapes ("forest of stars", "sunboat ascension") and quiet transcendence – simple words reaching for moons, cliffs, oceans and redemption.

Early recordings were pure DIY: a Shure SM58, Hohner acoustic, Behringer effects and Sony MiniDisc, shared only with friends between 2002–2005. The first studio demo "Road to me" (2005, with Dennis Tillmann) included "Big Blue Supernova", "Last Trip" and "Oporto Song" – the latter topped Darkerradio charts, sparking label interest, that Nino redirected to his other band AEON SABLE.

Full albums followed sparingly alongside main band work: "The Dazed Prophet" (2010), "Paths" (2013), "Seventh Circle" (2018). Live shows as Melanculia (& the Dazed Prophets) remain rare but intense.
